Customers praised the curl bar's quality, knurling, and grip, calling it "fantastic build quality" with "perfect" curve and ergonomics. Most found the aggressive knurling ideal, though some felt it was too intense. The chrome/black finish prevents rust well. Some noted rust after extended use and concerns about missing collars and defective products.

This is a great ez curl bar that I recommend without question. When ordering this bar you have your choice of four different finishes, I chose chrome. I have a wall of curl bars in my shed gym (11 ez curl bars and a rackable version) but wanted a good one for in the house. So I was in the market for one when I found this deal that was just too good to pass up. I was considering this one and two others prior to this deal but this one was on sale as a return item with full warranty bringing the cost down to only $52.46 with free shipping. After carefully examining this bar and using it multiple times I do not understand why they would have returned it. Not only does it come from a trusted brand of gym equipment that I own several items from already but just look at the Amazon reviews, they are out of this world (4.8 stars out of 1296 reviews) as of the time of this review you are now reading! The chrome finish is nice and will help to prevent rust from forming on the bar. I like that the end caps are there with their logo but wish it also included its weight and weight limit and diameter which more expensive bars list. The bushings spin well and the weight of the curl bar is as expected (19 pounds), lesser curl bars weigh in around 15 pounds or less. Curl bars usually come in as 28mm (sometimes 28.5mm) or 25mm if for women. This is a 28mm diameter bar so that is on point too. The weight limit is middle of the road at 450lbs but who curls even half that? What sets this ez curl bar apart from the rest is the 1.2mm diamond knurl. This knurling is not passive and not aggressive, it is just right in my opinion. However, knurling is subjective so there are others out there with a medium knurl or diamond knurl which is slightly different from one brand to the next. I think this is the best knurl to have some grip while not tearing up your hands. Some brands have more dramatic bends to the bar then others, this bar has the best shape for the most versatility in movements able to be performed.I highly recommend this ez curl bar even if I had paid full price ($69.95) because I have more expensive ez curl bars that I do not like as much as this one because they were not as comfortable to hold. Some of those bars cost $100 so even this bars regular price is a great price. With this bar you can perform biceps curls, reverse curls, triceps extensions and skull crushers. Based on the specs and my impressions of it after using it I expect that this bar will last for many years to come.
Been working with this barbell for a few weeks, I will update if I find major deterioration.Design: 3/5 My major gripe is the knurling placement, in that it only covers a single hand position. If you wanted to do close grip consistently, you will be disappointed. *note, the knurling is VERY aggressive, more intense than "volcano grip" from other name brands. Not a complaint, but just a consideration*Quality: 3/5 The bushings have a lot of rattle and play, and the plate sleeves don't fit the plates and clips particularly well. For me, this means that they float around during the middle of a set and I need to tightent them up in between. Other than that, the build and assembly seem to be done well. No noted defects. The bushings spin well, as expected. Like with any moving metal, it needs to be oiled, which I recommend 3-in-1 at least once a month.Sturdiness: 5/5 It feels good in the hands. I don't know anyone that would be working at the capacity it is rated for, but I think it could handle it.Price: 3/5 For what you are getting, I think it should be cheaper. I imagine this is just their price point for now, and it might go lower in the future.
Right out of the box, it seems like a high quality piece of equipment. As another reviewer alluded to, the anodization on the sleeves seems destined to erode away and flake off. There's already a couple of chips out of the inside (bar side) of the sleeve. (Some of what you see in the picture is lint from the paper towel) Also, some of the red powder coating on the bar transferred to a dry paper towel when I was removing some of the machine oil. However, this isn't a negative review...not at all. I bought this to be used, not put in a museum. The anodization issue isn't a big deal for me. It can be fixed with a Sharpie if it bothers you. And as far as the transfer of the red powder coating..I have never seen anything red that wasn't sealed with another compound that didn't transfer. This seems like it will serve my purpose and out of the tube, it seems to be high quality. And I don't know what people are talking about when referring to the aggressive knurling. Seems about right, to me. Honestly, I could have stood a little more. And speaking of the tube...I wish I could add an extra star for the packaging. I had to drill out the screw holes with a 3/8 drill bit (making sure to not go too deep) and wedge the cap off from the inside. If this bar is damaged during transport, you can assume the truck crashed and burned to the ground on the way to your house.
Built by Alexander, QC by joe. Only know that because it’s hand written in a QC sheet in the package! The packing was def overdone to ensure no damage. The cardboard itself was a battle to open. And it came out the box with a little metal lubricant used to protect the finish. The giró is perfect, and the bearing work flawlessly. It is a 2” diameter shaft for standard 2” weights. Couldn’t be happier. Even came with a P.O (used to reference your purchase if there is damage on arrival)
Received my synergee ez curl bar today and I am very pleased with the quality of the bar, but was also impressed on how it was packaged! It was solid! I ordered an Olympic bar from Walmart a few months ago and their packaging was a total and complete failure. The tube it was sent in didn’t even hold up to it’s shape. It was bent, and the ends were cracked and taped. Never again.Back to the bar, I read in other reviews that it arrived a little oily to prevent rusting. It did, but I’m ok with that. A simple wipe down with a rag or cloth helped. I also read that someone found it difficult to find plates for this bar. It’s not that hard. I bought the synergee fractional and change plates and they work perfectly fine with this bar.In my humble opinion, Synergee has proven to be a great brand at a very competitive price.
Quality bad. Got a defective product. Reached out the manufacturer but they said that defect is normal .
well made, quality. did not come as offer with cardboard protective tube. called vender, who was dismissive.
The knurl on the bar is just the right amount of grip and the curve is also perfect.
Although there were less expensive options, I chose this barbell even though it was not offered at a lower price (Black Friday) the way some others were. I spent a considerable amount of time reviewing reviews and concluded this barbell would be a good choice. It is a solid (literally, no pun intended) barbell. Barbell curls; forearm exercises; lying triceps extensions... perfect.Unless it breaks due to some accident, I expect this barbell to serve me for many years.(Packaging was very good, with several sytorofoam blocks.)
Bought this to add to our home gym. I have 2 teenage boys that lift all of the time. This was a want for them for a while. They are extremely happy with the quality of this bar! And the price was very reasonable.
Look, I'm as amateur as they come, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I only bought this to help combat mouse shoulder syndrome, and I spent a lot of time comparing different curl bars. This one checked all the boxes for me, so I went ahead and bought it. I'm honestly surprised by the quality of this bar and wasn't expecting it to be so nice. I'm convinced I could've paid a lot more for a different curl bar and gotten something far inferior to this one. The price is right, and the quality is great. The bearings feel great and are super quiet, the knurling works very well (sweat is an absolute non-issue) and covers pretty much everywhere I'd want it to, and the black finish is fantastic. I'm sure it will get chipped & scratched eventually, but it looks great as of right now. I can't comment on how sturdy it is with weights and whether it bends or anything else, because I'm only using the bar itself; I don't need much weight to help with my condition, and the weight of the bar itself feels like the perfect amount right now. Even if you workout consistently and can handle much more weight than I can, I really don't see where you could go wrong with this bar. I'm super pleased with my purchase and it's already helping me tremendously after only a week of use. 10 years of dealing with this debilitating pain & plethora of symptoms, and for the first time ever, I genuinely feel like I'm on the road to recovery for once. Thank you for making an affordable quality product!
The bar just feels right. The medium-agressive knurl coupled with the flat/matte finish and subtle bends make for a really nice feel. I wish they made a rackable version.
Everything about this bar is top notch construction. It's solid! The only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is that it doesn't come with the collars, so if you don't already happen to have collars that fit, it's completely useless. I have no idea why someone wouldn't buy collars with their bar, so I'm left confused as to why they wouldn't be included. I understand it would be more expensive that way, but worth it.
The use of this product has been great. My family uses it at least 5 times a week, and it is still in great condition. The only problem we have faced is that after about a year and half, rust is beginning to accumulate. But this problem can be easily fixed.
It arrived today and it only took me two screwdrivers, a drill, and a hammer to get the end open. hahaha, yes, that is what I used. If I knew how much room I had in the end of the tube, I would have used a sawszall.. but I bet that no bar has ever fallen out of this package during shipping. The bar was / is perfect, and I really like the deep knurl. Can wait to try it out tomorrow. the bearings run smooth and my collars fit, so I'm good.
I bought this ez curl bar for our home gym where I’m helping my son on a weight training program.I used to sell commercial fitness equipment and rehab equipment, and also managed a few fitness equipment stores in the local area. I’ve also been weight training for about 40 years. I’ve seen bars made in Sweden all the way to China and US (some were great, some barely passable as fitness equipment). This is a winner. The bronze bushings in this bar are very smooth, which is important if you’re lifting heavier weights. It also illuminates the squeaking that you get when using the bar. The finish is nice and doesn’t appear to be chrome plated on, which always flakes off after a few uses. The knurling is good and deep. Last, the bar’s ends have tightly machined grooves on them which helps prevent the Weights from sliding off if you are not using collars.Lastly, the bar arrived in bulletproof cardboard tubing with hard rubber ends that were screwed in with four wood screws. Even after taking the screws out I had to get a screwdriver and hammer to knock the ends off. I appreciate things that are well packed.I didn’t weigh the bar, I’ll go with the 19 pounds as quoted in the literature. I rounded up for my son to 20 pounds. If you want a bar that is quality and is going to last a long time, I don’t think you can do better than this.
First of all, I've been a buyer on Amazon since 2012 and have only written a handful of reviews in all that time, so thank you all for giving me a reason to do so again. This product is fantastic. It is clear from the moment the package arrives that these people mean business. I couldn't quite extricate the end caps so I impatiently resorted to a hack saw to open it up, which should not be taken to mean that the process was needlessly difficult. What you'll find inside is a product that has clearly been designed and assembled with a tremendous amount of care (shoutout Lincoln). This thing could've been javelin thrown across the country and still would've arrived in one piece. Fantastic phosphate finish and volcano knurling that feels right in the hand. Just buy it already.
Bought this as soon as it became available for our home gym.Packed really well, maybe a little too good. It was like a mini workout just trying to get it out of the tube!Matched the color theme of our gym. Red & black. A little greasy but just cleaned it off with a rag.Right out of the packaging, I noticed the ends where the plates go on were a lot shorter than what I'm used to. Bend / angle in the bar is ok, and the knurling is perfect although I seen some reviews saying it was too extreme. For the price it was a good buy though.
I am “torn” on if I like this product or not. The packing was excellent. The price is ridiculously low and it’s one of the few options available right now.Mine did have a small amount of machine oil, happy it did to protect the bar. Wiped it off easily with a rag. It will take a while to complete work out. Suggest using 3 in one oil to dilute the smell if it bothers you.The packing was excellent, cracking into a safe would have been faster. The size and shape of the bar is as expected. The collars done feel like true bearings but copper sleeves. This is expected at this price point. The spin is slow and restricted which is fine for this style of bar.Weights fit well in the bar.The oxide finish is okay it’s thin on the ends and has some marks but nothing to worry about. The knurling and everyone’s complaints how bad can it really be? I have never experienced any knurling even close to this aggressive. It does feel like it’s tearing into your hands. I am a little surprised I did not know it could be this rough. It’s usable but it is a little intense. One of the reviews mentioned a cheese grater which seems excessive but it’s actually a decent analogy.Amendment: use some 3 in 1 oil in the bushings and cleaned the bar. There was more machine oil that I expected so now it’s nice a clean now. And the spin on the bushings is 2x better. $8 3 in 1 oil, 10 minutes of time. Worth it.
Overall I am very impressed with this bar and would definitely recommend it. I ordered the hard chrome (didn't want red, I wish they offered other cerakote colors) and the finish looks good and is very even. Even though the hard chrome finish is fairly corrosion-resistant, it (like most other finishes) needs maintenance to pretect it from rusting over time, like cleaning and light oiling. The knurling is on the more aggressive side which is exactly what I wanted, and the machining on the collars looks good. This is a personal preference, but The collars do spin VERY freely which on a curl bar I would prefer they didn't spin as easily. One last thought is that this bar weighs about 20lbs compared to some bars which are 30lbs and I am glad it does. You can still fit 3 x 1.5" machined 45's on each side (not that you can curl that much) so plenty of weight and this offers a wider range of weight options.
